Honey Chocolate Cake
Look at the bees! My name means honeybee. I get a kick out of anything cute-bee related, and by cute-bee I mean not the real kind that buzz buzz in your ear.

Banana Cupcakes with Honey-Cinnamon Frosting
MMM I just made these. I baked them for about 30 minutes and they were still slightly undercooked, but they’re super moist that way. For the frosting, I whipped the butter and then added the rest of the ingredients. I increased the cinnamon from 1/8 tsp to a heaping 1/4 tsp.
It was an ordinary Saturday afternoon: I did some cleaning, did a little design work, and headed out into the world to do grocery shopping and such.
I was just strolling down the food sections of Target, searching for deals, as usual, when these little buggers immediately caught my eye. Like, I had passed them and caught them out of the corner of my eye, rubbernecked for about 10 seconds to read the description, and practically fell over myself backstepping to grab them:
Toasted Coconut Banana Macadamia Nut
The name is a mouthful for sure, but you definitely want to have your mouth full of this. There’s a whole macadamia nut place on top of each bar, real pieces of soft dried banana, and huge chunks of coconut flake. Regarding texture, I am used to the soft, yet crunchy, compact Quaker Chewy Bars. These are soft and not as crunchy. They almost fall apart. For a granola bar, you might even consider them “messy.” But let’s get real here, it’s a granola bar, not a Hot Pocket. Nutritionally, they’re low in protein (not good), but fairly low in sugar (8g), but high in fat for their size (5g). This is mostly due to the sunflower oil, coconut oil, and macadamia nut. Overall, if you’re not counting calories, and you’re not on a lowfat diet, these are a delcious snack! And the packaging is so pretty.

Other flavors are Dark Chocolate Raspberry Almond, and Honey Roasted Cashew Berry. I don’t know about the other flavors. Raspberry and chocolate together aren’t really my thing, and I don’t like berries in granola.

I took these pictures somewhere between Germany and Austria, in July 2007.
To say that our European Excursion went without a snag, would be a gross lie. We were six 20 and 21-year-old girls; most of us had never been overseas, especially for a month. After travel snafus, personality clashes, poor budgeting on some parts, and just generally, stress galore, we were ready to go home by the third week. We knew we would regret those feelings of homesickness. And we sure do.
There were parts of the trip where I felt so alive. These photos; these photos combined with Kings of Leon’s current single, “Fans,” just took me to an indescribable place. One thing I can put into words, is that it helped me to stop and appreciate all the beauty around me. All the excitement and adventure I was drowning out by missing my friends and family and California.
I find myself looking back on this point because I think I am similarly taking my day to day life for granted. I’ll be the first to admit I am in some ways a dreamer, always looking forward to the future, saying “I can’t wait until…” or even putting things off for the future. I often times get overwhelmed or lose focus or ambition. I miss a lot of times, a lot of people, a lot of places. Especially around this time, when it’s been nearly a year since my college graduation and five years since high school graduation.
I think life is all about balance. “Everything in moderation.” We’re all searching for this golden ratio. How do we enjoy the moment while being mindful of our future?

It is no secret that the real world in which the designer functions is not the world of art, but the world of buying and selling.”Paul Rand
I’m sitting here, trying to get the creative juices flowing, and I’ve fallen in love with Design is Mine. She finds such beautiful images, whether it’s fashion, interior design, graphic design, art. I’m into nearly everything she posts. Especially Etsy finds; she makes me forget my “get-out-of-debt NOW” plan and want to buy up everything on Etsy.
While looking at Design is Mine, I saw an image yet again with IKEA Urban chairs. These are the same chairs Yogurtland uses.

Since I’m hosting Easter Dinner at my house and I have no dinner table…I think I may break down and buy 4 of these chairs along with the IKEA Docksta table I’ve been wanting for awhile…

Thoughts?
I can’t wait to cook and gather with all my boys on Easter…Gabe, Jeff, Brent, and the ever elusive Mike. Maybe Drew will pop in as well. I’m so popular with the boys.
OOOH! Literally as I’m writing this, I received an email for “Tax-Free IKEA Weekend!” For those of you outside Los Angeles, our sales tax was just raised a full 1% yesterday. Our sales tax is now 9.25%! One of the highest in the nation. Sigh.
