Oh man. I was doing research on designing products for children and I came across these. How I stumbled upon Dessert Jewelry while looking up FDA guidelines, I’m not quite sure, but I’m glad I did!

La Boîte à Couture is from Barcelonian designer Géraldine Klein. Not only is her jewelry irresistibly cute, it’s also very reasonably priced! Rings are only €8,00, Earrings €5,00, and Pins €6,00. At those prices you can buy several after dinner delights and not feel guilty one bit…

I spent the weekend in NYC. And since I have been a negative nancy for the past week, I’m going to continue on that streak.

New York was rainy and bitter cold. In an attempt to dress my best for the three weeks I’m on the east coast, I decided to only bring three pairs of shoes: flat brown boots, heeled black boots, and black flannel flats. In keeping with that trend I decided to pack only black heeled boots on my trip to Manhattan. The weekend after we got six inches of snow. Heeled boots in icy, slushy, wet sidewalks. Good choice.

Now I know you’re waiting for the story of how I slipped and broke my wrist and smooshed my nose in, but luckily that didn’t happen. After a full day of slipping and sliding I decided to head down to the local Payless in the Upper East Side and grab a pair of wannabe gray velcro Chucks and stuck with them for the next two days, no matter how terrible they looked with my skinny jeans and white socks. Oh, and no I didn’t bring socks on this trip, are you kidding? I barely even own any socks, I bought those at Payless too. Okay, enough negativity, I’m not going to describe that despite my layers, scarf, gloves, and hat I was still freezing cold and wanted to crawl back in bed.

Highlights: Seeing three of my best friends and spending 2.5 days with them, Paesano of Mulberry Street, Blue Water Grill, Jaclyn doing pornstar poses (man I wish I could link to those photos), in Jaclyn’s words: “Afternoon Delight” or in other words drinks at 3:30pm on Saturday, doing crosswords, and looking up people from high school on dating websites.

Last Saturday:

Mine didn’t turn out great. I skimped a bit on the crumbs for the bottom crust, resulting in hard to handle bars, and also used *eek* vegetable shortening instead of butter! I know, I know, terrible!! But I had some leftover from when my mom was here (she uses it in her favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe) and I just wanted to get the evil stuff out of my pantry. And it’s so hard for me to just throw food away…

This is most definitely a favorite. I use strawberries with a pinch of cinnamon (I just love cinnamon, can’t help it!) instead of rhubarb with ginger.

I loooove Smitten Kitchen. I subscribe to her RSS feed. So now you know what I do when I need a break from QuickBooks at work…It’s only momentarily Gregory (my boss), I promise!
